Untreated Mental Illness Exacts Immense

When people can’t get the care they need, it impacts their ability to work or go to school, to care for themselves and their families, to contribute to society. For some, the consequences can be devastating: disability, poverty, homelessness and suicide.

Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among young people ages 16 – 24 in King County.

1/3 of Homeless People have untreated mental illnesses.

When people can’t get the care they need, we all pay the price.

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) estimates the cost of mental disorders in the US in 2012 was at least $467 billion….NOT including the costs of prisons, jails, criminal justice and court costs, homelessness and family members who are unable to work due to care giving.
